My life has been rather wonderful. Yes, I’ve been through debilitating illnesses, toxic mold in my home, the loss of a child, divorce, and the suicide of a husband. And yet, I can say I am blessed and grateful for those wilderness seasons because I learned a lot. I openly share what I learned in my first book, Conquering the Wilderness: Trusted Tools for Tough Times.
Originally from small town St. Louis, Michigan, I moved with my family to Midland, we lived a few months in California, then moved back to Midland. I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and still savor fall afternoons of Michigan football. I’ve cherished my roles as wife, mother and mother-in-law, and ministry leader. I love family, babies, dogs, flowers, friendships, home decorating, walking along the ocean, warm weather, counseling and mentoring others, and my beloved nation the USA.
As you will read in my book, a significant turning point for me was when I began to view life from the perspective of eternity. We are spiritual beings having a human experience and our time on earth is temporary; we will exist in eternity forever. Where we spend it depends on the choices we make. I’m passionate about sharing this with you.
Several of my favorite expressions:
"I know I'll get through this." My Mom
"Love life and it will love you right back." Author Unknown
“To whom much is given, much will be required.” My Nanny (grandmother) quoting from the Bible
"Pray first." Lana
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past." Isaiah the prophet
"The best is yet to come." From a friend after a big disappointment
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus
My heart is to help you know—you will get through wilderness seasons.
Life isn’t always easy, but by tapping into the Creator of the universe we get through it with greater purpose, power, and peace.
